All things must come to an end and so I've decided that today I shall write my last entry. This journal has been a love tool at some point, an aid to keeping a relationship somewhat intact despite distance, then it evolved into an outlet for my painful cries, most of which were private entries and then it became something I used as and when I felt like telling the world something about my relatively uneventful, unexciting life. It's been a pleasure anyhow and nostalgic to read some old entries. There are no regrets or feelings of stupidity, only pockets full of memories and sunshine - most of the time.

So till we meet again, farewell.

Much Love,
Esther

I get a lovely view from where I sit in my office on the hilltop building. It overlooks some lush greenery and Thomson is in the horizon. Very pretty. Hopefully I get a picture soon !

So. It's been busy even though I can't really recall what I've been up to. I caught 881 last night and I liked it even though it was OTT. There was a nice consistency to the movie that didn't make it cheesy or contrived.

Anyhows, Sept looks set to be a busy month with my final week of uni FOREVER ( assuming I do not pursue post-grad studies) happening this week and my last 4 papers to complete before month end along with my final placement starting next Tuesday.

I'm set and ready to go. Of course, praying very hard is in order. haha.

I''ve been sick the whole week, it all started on Monday morning when I woke up with a stuffy nose and then the swollen tonsils came, then the dreaded fever came and I have not much of a voice left now. My ears are blocked too. Ghastly. Normally I recover real quick but this time it's taking awhile. In anycase, here are some pics.

14th-Aug-2007 07:42 am - wordless love ?
writing
I was at Food Republic last night having a dinner of Yong Tow Foo on my own when a lady came to take a seat at the 4 seat table I was occupying. She was having a large bowl of beef noodles. 10 mins later a man appeared with a plate of Hokkien Mee and sat next to her. Their eyes didn't meet, not even a glance was exchanged. But the moment he put down his tray, she licked off her chopsticks and proceeded to swap trays with him. Clearly they knew each other. Both attractive faces. They chomped away at their food, all this time not exchanging a word. when he got bored of the beef noodles, he pushed the bowl away from her and slid her plate towards him while she was eating. She glared, he continued eating.

This whole time the optimist in me was hoping they'd smile at each other or at least say something. But no, my hopes were crushed. I guess I'd never know what had happened prior to this but I came up with a few ideas of my own.

1. They might have been quarelling before this
2. They know each other so well somethings don't need to be said
3. They are in a relationship of convenience
4. There is no love, only sex ??

Sigh.

writing
So the weekend started on Friday night when I attended Martin's wedding. This is the guy whom I tagged along with for most of my attachment last year. the wait for the food was gruelling. We started at like 8.40 pm? Why are wedding dinners like that ? I mean, if you are going to invite the people who matter most to you to share your happiest moment, shouldn't they be good enough pals to show up on time ??

Lynn and I went to get a manicure on Thursday and I did a hand masque. It was a gooey green mess that froze my hand but the outcome was really worth it. The manicurist was right when she said it would be like a baby's bottom.

I caught Knocked Up on Sat with Tim and the theatre was really empty. For a minute I thought I might have made a bad movie choice, but it was really funny. Go catch it. Geri's bday party was in the evening at her place so the whole bunch of us were there. We got her this really nice Aldo bag, which I would carry. Hahahah. But I can't now. Well.

I also caught Gone Shopping with bro and Marv. I actually think its not a bad movie, but I can't quite figure out what the writer wants to say. But oh well, its a local production and I am a closet patriot, so I won't say anything too negative lest you don't want to see it yourself. We also watched God's Favourite at the Substation last night. I was really tired and the seats were really hard/cramped. So the overall experience wasn't excellent. But the cast/crew put in a lot of effort and it showed, so I thought it was a sincere performance.

Meanwhile a long week awaits with a reading presentation on Wed, youth service talk on Sun and 2 assignments on Monday. But it will be worth it when I get on my flight to HK !!! YAY.

Photos from the weekend when people start posting them on Facebook.
24th-Jul-2007 11:44 pm - dreamy me
fairy

I daydream. A lot. Sometimes I dream to the point of such joy and contentment I can break out into a smile anywhere. On the bus, on the train, while I am walking, when I am distracted.

So this one particular dream keeps playing on in my head. I know its a desire acting itself out in my head and makes my heart skip a beat or two. Hee. I feel like such a kid sometimes, lost in a land of fantasy but it makes me so happy and it keeps me from thinking about reality. Almost like a protective cover.

Lately the dream seems to have taken on a more solid form, like it's more real, like it's happening/could happen. I think I might need to snap out a bit eh?

Hee.

Dim Sum Dollies
I think what I appreciated most about it was how we were able to make fun of our past and present and have a good laugh over things like SPGs, minister's pay hike, temasek holdings etc. Hossan Leong put up a real good show too and could have easily stolen their thunder. Overall, the dollies made me have a good time. People who think local productions have nothing to offer are being harsh.

Yesterday Tim and I visited El Patio at Holland V for dinner. It serves Mexican food. I think Cha Cha Cha would have been a better choice but there was a queue and El Patio looked full as well even though there was one last table available for us. So anyway, we took our seats and ordered. And waited for the food to come. And waited some more. At some point I notice that these 2 ang moh fellas who were seated like 10 mins after us were served first. By then we had already been waiting for about half an hour. And when Tim questioned the waiter about it he flatly denied it. Soon after, our food arrived. It tasted quite good actually. But that's not the point. What I really dislike about the places at Holland V is exactly this sort of thing. Their fairly obvious preferential treatment for ang mohs. Like seriously la, get a life. Ang Moh shit also brown ok.
